‘Carros de Foc’ is the name of a hike that takes you across the National Park from one refuge to the next, through the beauty of its forests and meadows. You will hike in high mountain terrain where trails, blocks of granite and scree mix in a walk that spans a total slope difference of 9,200 metres and a distance of 55 km.
The story goes that in the summer of 1987 some of the local refuge guards decided to complete the track Pallars - Ribagorça - Aran in a single journey. It was not a competition, but rather a way to visit the other guards and have a chat.
Since that summer of 1987, many mountaineers, hikers and runners have enjoyed the Carros de Foc hike, and many of them repeat the experience because there are always new beautiful spots to discover.
The classic Carros de Foc hike takes between 5 and 7 days and it goes through a total of nine refuges, allowing for a number of different itineraries to explore the area.
